Advisory only. No courtroom. Flat fees. Five paths. One door — the consultation opens all five engagements.

What this is

A scheduled 60-minute video call with me, Aliette Hernandez Carolan, Esq. You bring the situation. I bring 22 years of litigating Florida complex marital and family cases and the willingness to tell you exactly what I think. All my services are flat fee.

We do two things in that hour. We walk through where your matter actually stands. And we decide together which of the five engagements fits, what it will cost, and what the next step looks like.

The consultation is flat fee $695. No hourly add-ons. No follow-up clock. If you decide to retain me for any of the five engagements and sign within 48 hours, the full $695 credits against that fee.

The five paths it opens

Every engagement at Carolan Family Law begins here. There is no other intake. The consultation is the door.

  • Presuit Negotiation

I represent one party in a pre-filing negotiation against the other side. Your advocate at the table, no courtroom. Flat fee $4,500 to $15,500, depending on the complexity and who the lawyer is on the other side, if any.

  • Presuit Mediation

I serve as a neutral with both parties together in a 2-hour session. I need to meet with both of you at the time of the consultation to avoid any conflict of interests. I do not represent either side in the mediation. Flat fee $1,495 per 2-hour session.

  • Private Counsel

Behind-the-scenes strategic counsel, never counsel of record. Flat monthly fee from $2,500, billed monthly, cancel anytime with 30 days notice.

  • Second Opinion

An independent written analysis of your active Florida case to help you course correct or confirm you are on the right path. I will never take over your case, so there are no conflicts of interest in my review. Flat fee $3,500 to $12,500 by depth of review. Bespoke matters quoted custom.

  • Prenups & Postnups

Florida prenuptial and postnuptial agreements drafted or reviewed on a flat fee. From $5,500.

At the consultation, we decide which one fits and the flat-fee cost of my participation.

Who this is for

  • People considering separation or divorce who want senior, expert strategic input before any decision becomes hard to undo.
  • People mid-case who feel stuck, under-informed, or quietly worried that something is off.
  • People preparing for mediation, deposition, or a settlement conversation who want an independent read before they sit down.
  • People with a proposed settlement agreement or parenting plan in hand who want it reviewed before they sign.
  • People who want flat-fee certainty instead of an hourly clock that never stops.
  • People who can hear direct, sometimes uncomfortable, advice without flinching.

Who this is not for

  • People who want a litigator of record. I do not appear in court, do not file motions, and do not handle emergency relief such as TROs, injunctions, or ex parte motions.
  • People outside Florida. I am licensed to practice law in Florida only.
  • People hoping I will take over their existing case after a review. I do not accept transfers from clients I have given a second opinion to. That structural independence is the point.

How the hour actually runs

Before the call, you book the slot, pay the $695 through PayPal, and complete a single universal intake form.

During the call, we work through your situation in plain English. I ask what I need to ask. I tell you what I see. We surface the real options, the real risks, and the real numbers.

By the end of the hour, you know which engagement fits, what it costs, and what the very next step is. If the answer is "you do not actually need me," you will hear that too. That answer is part of what you are paying for.

The $695 credit, in plain terms

If you decide at the end of the consultation to retain me for any of the five service engagements, and you sign and pay the engagement retainer within 48 hours, the full $695 credits against that fee. Essentially, you receive the hour consultation for free.

If you do not retain, you owe nothing further. The hour stands on its own.

Conflict-free, by design

Every other attorney evaluating your case has a financial incentive to find problems they can solve by litigating for you. I built this practice so that incentive does not exist.

I do not litigate. I do not appear in court. I do not become counsel of record on any matter I have given a second opinion on. Every engagement is flat fee. I lose with prolonged disputes.

That is what makes the read worth getting.

Common questions before booking

Is the $695 refundable if we get on the call and you cannot help me?

The fee covers my time for the hour. It is not refundable. If your matter is outside what I do, I will tell you that on the call and refer you to a Florida attorney I trust.

What if I just want a quick answer to one question?

The consultation is one tier, sixty minutes, flat fee. Most one-question situations turn out to have more underneath them than the question implied, which is exactly what the hour is built to find.

Do you offer in-person consultations?

The practice is fully online by design. Video consultations are how every engagement begins.

Do I have to bring documents?

No. If you retain me, I will tell you exactly what to upload after you book.

English or Spanish?

Either. You choose at booking.

How soon can I get on the calendar?

Monthly intake is capped. Because every engagement at the firm begins with this hour, I limit how many consultations I take each month so the work behind them stays careful. Book the soonest open slot that works for you. If a deadline is already on your calendar, note it on the intake form and I will tell you whether a faster slot is possible.

How do I pay?

PayPal, at the time you book the slot. The $695 is collected before the meeting is held.

What happens after the consultation if I want to retain you?

You receive a written engagement letter for the path we discussed within one business day. Once signed and the retainer is paid, the work begins on the timeline we set together.

Consultations are advisory only. The consultation itself does not create an attorney-client relationship for ongoing representation, does not include court appearances, and does not constitute counsel-of-record representation.
